The world of the academics may seem a bit detatched at times but they do also produce some useful stuff. This category is for those pieces that have a relevance to travellers and cannot be classed as official, commercial or from peers. In most cases such information can be counted as background information though medical stuff can appear here as well and could be important if you plan on heading to affected areas.

Academics are welcome to submit links to their own travel-related pieces or to other works which they have used themselves during their research. We are unlikely to be trawling through university sites to find more.
